The story in briefProvision and change.
After announcing a drought to King Ahab, Elijah is directed by God to the brook Cherith. There he drinks from the brook and receives bread and meat brought by ravens. Eventually, the brook dries up because there has been no rain.
The passage holds God’s provision and changing circumstances together. In the verses that follow, God gives Elijah another instruction. The drying brook does not mark the end of his story.
